Information

Appointment

Appointment request

If you are interested in an appointment, please complete the booking form in full and submit it. I will do my best to respond within a few days.

Once you receive confirmation for your desired tattoo from me, we will discuss the details of your design and schedule one or more appointments for the tattooing process.

Rescheduling & Cancellation

Please inform me of any rescheduling at least 48 hours in advance so that I have the opportunity to offer the appointment to someone else.

In case of cancellation or no-show, the deposit for the tattoo design will not be refunded, as I have already invested time in creating the design.

Locations

Tattoo Studio - Muenster, Germany

At the moment, I am independent of any studio and tattoo on request as a guest in various studios or in private sessions. Feel free to contact me so we can find the solution that works best for you.

Costs & Payment

Fees

My work is charged by the hour. The payment for the tattooing is made at the end of each session. A deposit is required for the tattoo design.

What Remains as My Earnings

Of the hourly rate, mostly 30-40 percent goes to the tattoo studio for the use of the space and workstation. In addition, 19 percent VAT (value-added tax), which you as the client pay, is passed on to the tax office. Income tax and, if applicable, trade tax are also deducted. Social security contributions, such as health, nursing care, and pension insurance, must also be paid. Before all these deductions, material costs must also be covered. What remains after all deductions is my actual net income. If you calculate with an hourly rate of €100, only around €20 to €30 remain after all expenses and taxes.

Payment Methods

For payment, I accept cash, bank transfers, and PayPal transfers. You can choose the payment method that suits you best. In the future, I plan to acquire a card reader so that you can also conveniently pay by card.

Payment for the tattooing is due at the end of each session. If you wish to pay by bank transfer, I kindly ask that you transfer the amount in advance so that it reaches me by the appointment date. Feel free to send me a transfer confirmation via email, as constantly checking my account is quite time-consuming.

Deposit

1. Tattoo Design:
Once we’ve scheduled an appointment, I will start working on your tattoo design. For the creation of the tattoo design, I require a separate deposit, which covers the first two hours of drawing. If the design takes more time, an additional fee will be charged accordingly. Should the design take less time, I will adjust the fee. For elaborate illustrations that require up to five hours of drawing, a flat fee will be applied, depending on the complexity.

If you decide on a design that I have already created, there is no charge for the design work, as the design is already completed.

2. Deposit:
You can conveniently make the deposit via PayPal or bank transfer. Once the payment is received, I will send you an email with a confirmed invoice documenting the payment. Only then will I begin preparing your design.

Why do I require a deposit?
I work as a freelancer and am self-employed. If I invest time into a tattoo design and a client cancels at the last minute, I would have worked for free – time that could have been used for paying clients.

Tattoo Design

Style

My tattoo style is a mix of linework and sketch style, with comic-like influences. I mainly tattoo in black but am open to introducing additional colors.

Theme

My main focus is on fantasy and folklore, including everything nerdy – from my own creative ideas to books, gaming, and movies. Both cute and dark designs featuring fantastic creatures and magical characters are part of my repertoire.

Personal and original designs, whether from you or me, are welcome. Possible motifs include dragons, magical creatures, monsters, animals, humans, as well as elves, hobbits, orcs, and the like. Themes like Scandinavian or Slavic mythology, magical landscapes, and superhero universes are also possible. Additionally, modern and retro gaming themes, medieval motifs, and legends from around the world can be explored. Designs like animals, flora, skulls, skeletons, dinosaurs, as well as human themes like cowboys or vikings are also warmly welcomed.

The list is extensive, and these are just a few examples that came to mind. Please reach out so we can discuss your design and find the perfect solution together.

If you’re not interested in fantasy designs or animal or nature themes, we can still discuss whether I can create your tattoo for you.

Pre-designed Motifs (Wanna-Do)

If you haven’t decided on a design yet, you can choose from many pre-designed motifs in my portfolio. The advantage is that these designs are already finished, and you only pay for the tattooing time. I regularly create new tattoo designs, so feel free to stay updated. It is also possible to make small adjustments to existing designs or transform a design from my older illustrations on my illustration website (linnys-art.com) or social media into a tattoo. Here’s an example:

How a Design is Developed

1. Initial Consultation:

At the beginning, we will have a conversation to discuss your ideas, wishes, and vision for the tattoo. We will clarify the theme and size of the design. Feel free to send me any inspirations in advance.

2. Tattoo Design & Finalization:

Depending on the appointment – whether in a few weeks or several days – you will receive an initial design for review, and you can provide feedback. If you want changes, I will make them and adjust the tattoo design to match your vision. You will receive the final design 1–2 days before the appointment.

I place great importance on the design phase because I believe my clients should have enough time to thoughtfully consider their design. With many other tattoo artists, clients often see the final tattoo only on the day of the tattoo session. I find that challenging because a tattoo lasts a lifetime, and you have to make an immediate decision on whether you like it or not.

Complex Designs:

If you only have a rough idea and are not sure how your design should look, I will create several sketches initially. These can include multiple versions to ensure we find the best solution for your design. If you already have a clear idea, one sketch may be enough.

I will then create the final design. Depending on how far in advance your appointment is – whether in a few weeks or several days – you will receive it in time before your tattoo session. If you still want any changes, they will be incorporated, and you will get your final tattoo design 1–2 days before the appointment.

How Long Does It Take to Develop a Design?

Depending on the size and complexity of a design, the development time can vary. For example, designing the Mario plant took about an hour, the Rabbit Patronus design took two hours, and Galadriel took five hours of work.

What Will Not Be Tattooed

I do not tattoo other styles, scripts (except runes), or mini-tattoos. There are other tattoo artists who specialize in these areas or excel in fine line and script tattoos. If a text is part of your tattoo, such as on a Pokémon card, we can gladly discuss it.

The designs I create involve a lot of effort and passion. After over 15 years of painting and drawing, it was a significant challenge to develop my own artistic language. I do not tattoo designs from other artists as it is unethical. I understand the work and effort involved in developing a personal style or design and how challenging and painful the artist’s journey can be. It is also important to me that my tattoo designs are not used by others.

Preparation for the Tattoo Appointment

Before the Appointment

Sleep: Make sure to get enough rest. A well-rested body is better able to handle the stress of a tattoo.

Energy: Please eat a good meal beforehand and feel free to bring snacks and drinks with you. A tattoo session can take a long time, and your body needs energy!

No Alcohol or Drugs: Please refrain from consuming alcohol or other substances at least 24 hours before your appointment. They can thin the blood, leading to increased bleeding and poor color retention.

No Painkillers: Painkillers like aspirin or ibuprofen can also thin the blood.

Shaving: Please don’t shave the area yourself – I will do that during the appointment to avoid skin irritation or small injuries.

Clothing: Wear comfortable clothing that allows for enough movement and gives easy access to the tattoo area. Keep in mind that the clothing might get stained with ink, so it’s best not to wear anything new.

Health: If you’re feeling unwell, please let me know early. Your body needs strength for healing, and getting tattooed while sick is uncomfortable for both you and me.

Mental Preparation for Your Tattoo Appointment

Expect Pain: It’s important to prepare yourself for the possibility that getting a tattoo may be painful. The intensity of pain can vary depending on the body part and personal pain tolerance.

Mental Preparation: Get mentally ready for the experience by educating yourself about the process. Understanding what to expect can help reduce anxiety about the unknown.

Positive Visualization: Visualize the successful completion of your tattoo and the final result. This can help you focus on the desired outcome and manage the pain better.

Self-Talk: Encourage yourself and remind yourself that the pain is temporary and the result will be worth it.

Distraction: Plan ways to distract yourself during the session. Listening to music, reading a book, or watching a movie can help shift your focus away from the pain.

During the Appointment

Refreshments: We offer coffee or refreshing drinks during your appointment. For longer sessions exceeding 4 hours, consider bringing a snack to maintain your energy.

Companions: You are welcome to bring a companion. For very long sessions lasting over 6 hours, consider whether it makes sense for your companion to stay, as the time may be lengthy.

Quiet and Focus: Please respect that I need quiet and focus to work optimally. It would be helpful if your companion does not stand around my workspace throughout the session to maintain a calm working environment.

Patience: Be prepared that the tattooing process can take time. Depending on the size and complexity of the design, it may take longer than initially anticipated.

Short Breaks: For lengthy sessions, taking short breaks can be helpful. These breaks allow for stretching and changing positions to ensure comfort.

Distractions: Feel free to bring entertainment such as music, a book, or a tablet to make the session more enjoyable and to distract yourself.

Communication: Let me know at any time if you feel uncomfortable or need a break. Open communication helps make the process pleasant for both of us.

Pain Tolerance: Everyone has different pain tolerances. If you find the pain too intense, let me know so we can work together to find a solution.

Aftercare for Your Tattoo

Immediately After the Appointment

You’ve made it through the first half; now it’s up to you. Proper care of your tattoo is crucial for a beautiful result and involves at least two weeks of diligent attention. Here’s what you need to do:

1. Protective Film:

Your tattoo will be covered with a special film. You can leave the film on for about 2-4 days to protect the fresh tattoo from dirt and bacteria.

It is completely normal for fluid to accumulate under the film, as it helps protect the fresh tattoo from external influences. This fluid may make the tattoo appear somewhat blurred at first, but this is a natural part of the healing process.

2. Cleaning:

Remove the film after the specified time (Tip: Remove the film under the shower to prevent it from sticking too much). Then, gently wash the tattoo with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap or a specially developed tattoo wash gel. Make sure to use your clean hands and avoid washcloths or sponges.

3. Drying:

Gently pat the tattoo dry with a clean, soft towel or kitchen paper. Avoid rubbing!

4. Aftercare Cream:

Apply a thin layer of specialized tattoo aftercare cream or Panthenol ointment. Be careful not to use too much cream; the tattoo needs to breathe.

I personally use the TattooMed care set, which includes the Cleansing Gel, After Tattoo, and Daily Tattoo Care. (This is not an advertisement, but based on my own experience.) TattooMed is a German brand specializing in the care of freshly tattooed skin. Their products are vegan, cruelty-free, and contain natural ingredients that support the healing process.

The First Few Days

Regular Care: Clean the tattoo 2-3 times daily and apply a thin layer of aftercare cream. Do this at least for the first 5-7 days or follow the instructions on your aftercare cream. Afterward, applying it 1-2 times a day should be sufficient until the skin has fully healed. This care should continue for at least 2 weeks, or longer if needed, until the skin no longer has scabs and has fully regenerated.

Do Not Pick Scabs: If scabs form, let them fall off naturally. Scratching or picking at them can interfere with healing and cause scarring.

Wear Loose Clothing: Avoid tight clothing that could rub against your tattoo. Loose-fitting clothing helps the tattoo to breathe.

In the Following Weeks

Avoid Direct Sunlight: Do not expose your fresh tattoo to direct sunlight as it can affect healing and cause fading. Avoid tanning beds during the healing phase as well.

No Swimming or Bathing: Avoid pools, hot tubs, and saunas for at least two weeks to reduce the risk of infection. Showers are fine, but keep the tattoo out of the direct stream of water.

Sweat and Exercise: Avoid intense physical activities that cause heavy sweating during the healing phase. Sweat and friction can delay healing.

Avoid Itching: If your tattoo begins to itch, avoid scratching it.

Risks of Tattooing

Allergies, Scars, and Blowouts:

Even though tattooing is performed in a professional and hygienic environment, there are some general risks to consider. These include possible allergic reactions to tattoo inks, individual healing issues, or skin sensitivities. In rare cases, scarring or blowouts (unwanted color spreading under the skin) may occur.

Every skin type is different—factors like skin type, regeneration ability, and personal care habits affect the healing process and the final result of the tattoo. The tendency for scarring can also vary depending on skin type. People with sensitive skin should take this into account when deciding to get a tattoo.

Hygiene & Aftercare:

Proper aftercare is crucial for optimal healing. In addition to using specific aftercare products, your own hygiene plays a major role. Improper care, touching the fresh tattoo with unwashed hands, or wearing tight, unclean clothing can negatively affect the healing process. A clean environment and careful skin care help avoid infections and ensure the tattoo heals beautifully.

I place great importance on hygienic practices and professional execution to minimize risks for my clients. With the right aftercare, you can contribute significantly to the healing process, ensuring your tattoo heals well and remains vibrant for years to come.

Warning Signs:

If your tattoo becomes extremely red, swollen, hot, or very painful, it could be a sign of an infection. In this case, it is advisable to contact a doctor or me. Mild redness or slight swelling immediately after getting tattooed is normal and can occur in the first few days. However, these symptoms should subside over time.

If you notice any of the following signs, it could indicate an infection:

  • Intense burning or pain beyond the usual level.
  • Pus or yellowish liquid coming from the tattoo.
  • Unpleasant, unusual smell from the tattooed area.
  • Severe redness or swelling that doesn’t subside or worsens over time.
  • Fever or general malaise.

In such cases, you should not hesitate to seek medical attention. It is important to quickly recognize and treat infections to avoid complications and scarring. If you need my help for evaluation or support, feel free to reach out.

Remember, proper care in the first few weeks is crucial to ensure your tattoo heals well and achieves long-lasting, beautiful results.

Precautions with Medical Conditions or Pregnancy

It is important to be cautious with certain medical conditions or during pregnancy before deciding to get a tattoo:

Pregnancy: Tattoos are generally not recommended during pregnancy due to infection risks and bodily changes. Healing may be slower, and certain chemicals in the ink could potentially harm the unborn child.

Breastfeeding: Caution is advised during breastfeeding due to potential infection or irritation issues. Consult with a doctor to minimize risks to the baby.

Skin Conditions:

Eczema, Psoriasis, Dermatitis: Areas affected by these conditions are often sensitive and heal more slowly. It’s advisable not to tattoo these areas or inform the tattoo artist.

Acne: Tattoos on heavily affected skin can heal poorly and impact the final result.

Sunburn: Fresh tattoos on sunburned or irritated skin can heal poorly and result in undesirable outcomes.

Diabetes: People with diabetes, especially Type 1, often experience slower wound healing and a higher infection risk. Medical advice is recommended before getting a tattoo.

Blood Disorders: Individuals with blood disorders or who take blood thinners should be cautious as there is a higher risk of bleeding during the tattooing process.

Immune System Weakness: A weakened immune system due to illness or medication can delay healing and increase infection risk.

Allergies: Inform the tattoo artist about any allergies to ink components, aftercare products, or materials like latex to avoid allergic reactions.

Consult a doctor with any health concerns or special circumstances before getting a tattoo.

Hygiene & Materials

Hygiene

Hygiene is a fundamental aspect of my tattoo practice, and I strictly adhere to all relevant EU and German regulations. This ensures you are in a safe and hygienic environment during your tattoo appointment.

Sterility and Cleanliness: All tools and equipment used during tattooing are thoroughly cleaned and sterilized after each use. Single-use items like needles, gloves, and ink are used only once and then safely disposed of to prevent cross-contamination and protect you from infections.

Hygienic Environment: My studio is regularly checked for cleanliness and sterility. All surfaces used are disinfected after each appointment, including tattoo stations, furniture, and floors. Only sterile materials come into contact with your skin to minimize infection risk.

Regulatory Compliance: I adhere strictly to all legal hygiene requirements for tattooing in Germany and the EU. This includes regular updates and training for my staff on the latest hygiene and safety protocols. These regulations ensure that my studio meets the highest standards.

Hand Hygiene: Thorough hand disinfection is performed before and after each tattoo, and when changing materials. This ensures that no germs or bacteria are transferred and helps maintain a hygienic working environment.

Certified Products: I use only certified and high-quality products approved for tattooing. This includes both the ink and aftercare products.

Safety Measures: In addition to general hygiene practices, all safety precautions are taken to protect your health. This includes regular maintenance and inspection of all devices and instruments.

Materials and Quality

Tattoo Machines: I use one of the best machines on the market, the Bishop Power Wand. This state-of-the-art equipment ensures precision and quality with every tattoo. Providing the best possible results while taking responsibility for your skin is crucial to me, so I invest in top-notch materials and technology.

Tattoo Inks: For my tattoos, I only use high-quality, vegan inks, preferably from the Austrian company “I am Ink.” These inks not only stand out for their excellent quality but are also ethically sound and environmentally friendly. Additionally, I exclusively use inks that are approved according to the strict EU regulations to ensure the safety and health of my clients.

Single-Use Needles: I use only high-quality single-use needles to ensure sterility and safety. After each use, these needle sets are completely disposed of to avoid cross-contamination.

Hygiene Products: All hygiene products used, including disinfectants, sterilizers, and gloves, meet the highest EU and German standards. I use only tested and reliable products.

Tattoo Film: For protecting fresh tattoos, I use high-quality, breathable films. These ensure that the tattoo heals optimally while being protected from dirt and bacteria.

Disinfectants: All surfaces, tools, and equipment are thoroughly disinfected using effective and skin-friendly disinfectants that meet hygiene regulations.

Environmental Awareness: Where possible, I choose environmentally friendly and sustainable materials. Reducing the ecological footprint is important to me.
